Inaguration of the stable on Arholma

Lena Nyberg, the director of the Archipelago Foundation
and Mats Nordin, regional cordinator at the County
Administrative board of Stockholm inagurates the new
table on Arholma the 27th of May 2015.

The Archipelago Foundation and the County Administrative
Board of Stockholm have worked hard to realize the animal
shed at Arholma. After many adversities the finalized
construction makes us very happy and proud.

Arholma – system for the seasonal storage of manure
and urine.

The manure is now put in the wright place! Instead of
nutrients leaking out into the sea, it is now spread on
the arable fields. There it gives winter feed for more
grazing animals. The cows keeps the pastures open
during the spring, summer and autumn.

The animal shed at Arholma is needed to enable further
restoration of pastures on the islands of Arholma and
Idö. Grazing animals is required to keep cleared pastures
open.
