The 13th European Heathland Network Workshop was held at Slettestrand in Denmark 23 – 28th June 2013. More than 80 persons from 11 different European countries participated. The program started with presentations, discussion and poster sessions. Excursions to Hulsing dune heath, Råbjerg Mile, Skagen, Thy National Park, Kongenshus Heath, Mols Bjerge National Park and Norholm Heath were made.

The European Heathland Network has been established to enable all persons involved or interested in heathland ecological research, conservation of wildlife, and in policy formulation and implementation in relation to European heathlands to meet, stimulate discussion, and promote communication and dissemination to further the understanding and conservation of heathland ecosystems. The next meeting will be held in Poland 2015.

The Danish heaths are an important part of the Natura 2000 network and the workshop will include field trips to coastal dunes and inland heaths. The Workshop was sponsored by the Life-fond. Visits were made to the Life projects: LIFE02 NAT/DK/008584, LIFE08 NAT/DK000464, LIFE NAT/DK/000370 and LIFE05 NAT/DK/000151
